Intel Socket R (2011) has same mounting holes as LGA1366

Posted on Monday, September 21 2009 @ 16:03:02 CEST by

Cirthix from Xtreme Systems claims he has received a Intel Socket R test board. One of the interesting things is that this future socket, which will be introduced in 2011, will have the same mounting holes as LGA1366, meaning that you won't be required to upgrade your processor cooler.
Just got a socket R (2011) test board in (not motherboard, just power test board). Good news is that while the socket is physically larger than 1366, the mounting holes for heatsinks are the same .
