WSJ reports ARM is in talks to license its proprietary chip-production technology to GlobalFoundries:
Among the top chip foundries with licenses to use the U.K.-based microchip designer's chip-production architecture are Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and United Microelectronics Corp.

Given Global Foundries' ample funds and its acquisition of Singapore's Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd. in early September, "Global Foundries will be a viable alternative to TSMC," Smith said during a media gathering in Taipei.
