Epic Games president Micheal Capps revealed at the Tokyo Game Show that Epic has been working on Unreal Engine 4 for the past 7 years, and that it plans to get the engine ready for the next wave of consoles.
Even though he doesn’t expect the next wave of consoles to occur for around four to five years, they want to be ready. Capps also stated that any titles coming from Epic in the next few years will still be using Unreal Engine 3 technology. He never touches on the subject of what the next engine may see in improvements over Unreal Engine 3, we can expect it to deliver a big leap for game development.
