DigiTimes heard a shortage of 55nm GPUs from AMD and NVIDIA is expected to last through the first quarter of next year, as both companies are focusing on DX11 based 40nm GPUs.
Since Nvidia plans to speed up adoption rate of its next generation GPUs after the launch of Windows 7, the company currently does not plan to increase its GT200 series GPU supply, as it wishes to avoid surplus inventory in the future, added the paper.
