CSTN-LCD to become mainstream for handsets in 2005

Emerging Display Technologies (EDT) and Wintek, two Taiwan-based STN-LCD makers, expect the CSTN-LCD segment will see the greatest adoption in handset-use sub-panels in 2005, replacing the monochrome STN LCD as the mainstream secondary display for handsets.

For handset-use main panels, EDT anticipates that demand for CSTN and TFT LCDs will reach 250 million units each in 2005, compared to monochrome STN LCDs’ 100 million.
