Symantec and Veritas to merge

Symantec announced plans to merge with Veritas in a $13.5 billion stock deal.

Symantec primary offers anti-virus and other security related software and Veritas is a leader in back-up and storage software.

The combined company will be called Symantec, and Symantec shareholders will be the majority owners.
