BenQ reveals eReader in Asian markets

DigiTimes announced BenQ has unveiled the nReader, a new eReader with a 6-inch EPD (electrophoretic display) touchscreen panel from SiPix. The device will be launched together with an online e-book trading platform in Taiwan in January 2010 and later in Japan and China.

The BenQ nReader has 2GB internal memory and supports ePub, PDF, HTML, TXT, JPB, BMP, GIF, and PNG file formats. It can also be used for MP3 playback and the storage capacity can be expanded with microSD memory cards. The launch price will be NT$8,990, which equals around US$279.76.

BenQ aims to sell 50,000 devices in Taiwan and 300,000 units globally in 2010.
