Pegatron to launch fier-tier motherboards under ASRock brand

DigiTimes reports Pegatron Technology is expected to use its ASRock brand name to compete against first-tier motherboard makers and vendors after the company is spun off Asustek in July 2010. In the future, the ASRock brand will be used for products including mid-range motherboards, high-end motherboards, desktop PCs and notebooks.
ASRock was originally established to mainly target the entry-level motherboard market, a segment that Asustek does not cover, to allow the company to have fully coverage of the motherboard market, but after the spin-off, Pegatron is expected to use ASRock to fully advance into the mid-range and even high-end motherboard brand markets, the sources noted.

As ASRock is expected to ship seven million own-brand motherboards in 2009, the company will be capable of competing against Micro-Star International (MSI) and Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) for the spot of third-largest global branded motherboard vendor.
