DigiTimes head Innolux will be the initial supplier of 10" touch panels for Apple's tablet PC, with Wintek expected to become a second supplier at a later time. Sources at component makers claim the device was delayed due to issues with the strength of the glass of the display panel, and that mass shipments will start in March or April 2010.
Apple has been seeking solutions to strengthen the glass of the 10-inch panel for the device and was forced to delay the launch until first-quarter 2010, the sources noted.

Foxconn's optical glass processing subsidiary G-Tech Optoelectronics will provide a glass strengthening process for the device, while Taiwan-based optical film maker Wah Hong Industrial has also reportedly landed component orders.

Apple is expected to announce the tablet PC in January of 2010 with mass shipments to start in March or April, based on analysis of the shipping schedules of Apple's upstream component partners.
