DFI introduced the LR100-N16M, a new passively cooled Mini-ITX motherboard with the Intel Atom N450 processor.
This board utilizes the latest two-chip Intel® Atom™ processor N450 and Intel® 82801HM I/O Controller (also referred to as “ICH8M”) system solution. This smaller integrated two-chip platform uses approximately 40% less board space than previous generation three-chip solutions, and provides higher performance per watt than any previous Intel® Atom™ processor-based platform.

The LR100-N16M mini-ITX motherboard is equipped with a 45nm Hi-K technology Intel® Atom™ processor N450 with 5.5W TDP, 667MHz front side bus (FSB) and 1.67GHz core frequency. In addition, this single core processor features a 512kb 8-way L2 cache, 64bit computing support using Intel® 64 architecture, on-die memory and graphics controllers, all in a small Micro-GCBGA8 package. Integrating the memory and graphics controllers on the processor die increases performance, reduces the board footprint, and lowers power consumption over the previous generation three-chip platforms.

Support is provided for up to 2GB of DDR2 667 MHz single-channel system memory and dual PCI Express Gigabit LAN controllers. Additional features include The Intel® GMA 3150 graphics engine – an improved graphics accelerator with VGA and LVDS interfaces providing dual-independent display capability for graphics intensive and multimedia applications. The integrated graphics engine contains a refresh of the 3rd generation graphics core supporting DirectX 9.0c compliant Pixel Shader 2.0. The LR100-N16M also provides ACPI 3.0 Power management with Intel® SpeedStep technology, three Serial ATA ports with speed up to 3Gb/s, ten USB 2.0/1.1 ports, four Serial COM ports, one CompactFlash socket and high-definition audio support with S/PDIF input/output interface. This embedded Mini-ITX motherboard provides expansion using 1 PCI Express x1 slot for networking and RAID cards, and 1 PCI slot to support legacy card functions.

This low-power motherboard is ideal for applications requiring a stable revision-controlled platform, such as gaming, industrial control automation, POS and Kiosk, medical equipment embedded applications. POS (Point of Sale) terminal and kiosk applications are widely used to automate sales transaction processing. Data collected at the time and place of sale provides real-time product pricing, processing of electronic billing, monitoring of inventory run-rates, and collection of other vital marketing data. POS terminals are used at malls, gas stations, supermarkets, restaurant, airports, warehouse, and touch the life of virtually every consumer. These applications benefit from the smaller Mini-ITX board form factor and lower power requirements of the Intel® Atom™ processor N450 and Intel® 82801HM I/O Controller Hub.
