Another new notebook series from Sony is the VAIO Y, these 13.3" systems are designed as daily companions and have a magnesium alloy shell for extra strength. They will be available by late January 2010, the specifications of the Y series can be found over here.
The slim new VAIO Y Series makes it beautifully easy to manage your digital life and handle daily multimedia tasks.

Weighing less than 1.8kg, the new Y Series stands out from the crowd with its chic case that features magnesium alloy for extra strength, plus cylindrical hinge styling that’s a signature of VAIO. It shares the same high contrast real wide 33.8cm (13.3”) LED VAIO Display featured on the new VAIO S Series, providing a brilliantly detailed view of documents, graphics and more.

Whether you’re blogging, taking notes, browsing or catching up on that important assignment, VAIO Y Series is designed to let you work and play for longer. Power drain is minimised by the ultra-low voltage Intel processors. Standard battery life of up to 9h hours1 allows plenty of power for a full working day, plus some extra me-time. An extra-small AC adaptor takes up less space when you’re travelling.

The full-pitch keyboard is designed for comfortable, error-free typing with precise key spacing and positive response - ideal for creating presentations on the move, word processing while commuting or blogging in cafes. Controlling and navigating multimedia files is easier than ever with the new multi gesture touchpad. Circle scroll, flick navigate backwards and forwards, pinch zoom and pivot rotate using precise fingertip movements.

Selected models include VAIO Everywair 3G mobile broadband, expanding your options for staying connected while you’re on the move.

For extra convenience and peace of mind, a front panel-mounted ASSIST button on both notebooks gives one-touch access to VAIO Care. This easy-to-use new programme helps maintain, diagnose and troubleshoot your VAIO with just a few clicks. VAIO Care even helps rescue and recover data when your PC won’t boot up.
