Asustek vice president of open platform business Chewei Lin told DigiTimes that there will be few USB 3.0 motherboards until the third quarter of this year, due to the high cost of implementing this technology.
As for USB 3.0 motherboards, Lin pointed out that the market is unlikely to start taking off until the end of the third quarter due to high costs; however, he expects USB 3.0 motherboards will have monthly shipments of two million units by then and Asustek will account for 25% of the shipments, equivalent to about 500,000 units per month.
