FUD Zilla reports AMD is working on the 870 chipset, a cheaper version of the 890FX. The chipset is expected to be released in April 2010 and will use the SB600, SB700, SB710 and SB750 southbridge chips.
AMD plans to launch new chipset simply called the AMD 870. This new product is an HT3 chipset with support for AM3 socket and 1x16 PCIe gen2 slot. We are not sure if this chipset will be able to support 2X8 PCIe configurations.

This is a discrete chipset that doesn’t have any graphics core and it uses FCBGA 21mm package. Its TDP will stay at 13W.
