AMD started revenue shipments of Magny-Cours in January

Following the auction of some AMD Magny-Cours processors on eBay, Bright Side of News spoke to AMD and learned that these chips started shipping in January:
We spoke with Phil Hughes, Senior Public Manager for Opteron. Phil told us that AMD has "aggressively sampled production-level parts for nearly 30 days now." Phil also confirmed that AMD begun to ship Magny-Cours Opterons for revenue as they "have actually shipped a limited number of production parts to allow customers to prepare for launch - on track for later this quarter."

Phil had no comments on the eBay auction story, but it looks to us that Oakville Mehlville Computers, a small system integrator from Montana saw this as a chance to shine and decided to jump the gun by a week or two. There are no confidentially clauses attached, thus the SI in question was probably right to pull a fast one.
