HTC CEO Peter Chou told WSJ that his company's growth in the US is outpacing other smartphone makers this year.
HTC shipped 5.5 million to six million smartphones to the U.S. market last year, according to its annual report. In an exclusive interview Friday, Mr. Chou said that number is expected to grow this year, though he didn't say by how much.

"It looks like the growth in the U.S market is faster than others," he said, without further elaboration.

Brand recognition had been an issue for HTC, with sales of its lower-profile smartphones initially struggling against those of more-established rivals.
