Samsung Electronics shipped 1.8 million netbooks in the first quarter of 2010, surpassing Asustek Computer and only behind Acer with a shipment gap of less than 100,000 units, according to Digitimes Research senior analyst Joanne Chien.

Benefiting from the company's in-house supply of netbook components such as panels, DRAM and chips as well as strong relationships with telecom carriers, Samsung enjoyed excellent shipment performance in Europe, which helped expand its share in the global netbook market, Chien pointed out.
