TC Mag spotted that Intel has made some improvements to the design of the HSF that ships with the Core i7-980X processor. The new design is said to be both quieter and more powerful than the current version, CPUs with the new cooler are expected to start shipping on June 7.
To lower the sound output of the cooler Intel has dubbed down the thickness of the impeller trailing edge of the fan blades to just 0.3mm, while for added performance it has perforated the impeller hub.
