Japanese tech site Akiba spotted that Intel has entered the retail CPU cooler market. One of the site's reporters shot some photos of the Intel XTS100H in a Japanese retail store, at first sight this new HSF looks like a cut-down version of the model that ships with the Core i7-980X.

The XTS100H is a 865g tower heatsink for LGA1156 processors, it features three heatpipes, an aluminium fin array, and a 130mm fan that spins at 800RPM - 2600RPM with noise levels of 17dBA to 45dBA.

The Japanese store is selling the cooler for 4,980 yen ($54.37) and a quick Google search reveals Dutch computer shop Salland is taking preorders for 42EUR (incl. VAT).
