Motherboard makers seeing weaker-than-expected demand

DigiTimes reports first-tier motherboard makers may fail to meet their 2010 shipping goals as third-quarter demand appears to be lower than originally expected.
First-tier motherboard makers and brands originally expected market demand for motherboard would start picking up in the third quarter, the traditional peak season. However, as current order visibility remains weak, makers/brands are already becoming more conservative about their performance in July and August, the sources noted.

The sources believe that the uncertainty of the US and Europe's economic status is the main driver for the weaker-than-expected motherboard demand in the third quarter and they expect shipment volume in the third quarter will only increase 15% sequentially and is unlikely to rebound to the same level as the first quarter, as the players originally expected.
