Gaming peripheral maker Zowie announced they've been collaborating with BenQ the last 8 months to develop a LED-backlit monitor for competitive gaming. The display will be officially announced later this month. Unfortunately, the press release doesn't contain much information about what will make this display so suitable for gamers.
ZOWIE GEAR and BenQ has spent the last 8 months co-developing a monitor which is optimized for competitive gaming. The development of this monitor is based on feedback and input giving by ZOWIEs professional gamers Emil 'HeatoN' Christensen and Abdisamad 'SpawN' Mohamed.

Competitive gaming is growing with a rapid pace and it was only a matter of time before we would see a huge company like BenQ recognize the experience and knowledge these gamers possess.

“Professional gamers have valuable experience and knowledge about display device performance ,” says Enoch Huang, Senior Manager, Product Management of BenQ and continues, “they are so critical about the equipment they use as even the smallest flaws can make a huge impact on their play. ZOWIE helped us understand that gamers require equipment which has been developed with certain aspects of competitive gaming in mind.”

We are happy to see BenQ involve themselves in the development of products for competitive gaming, as it proves that competitive gaming can be used as an industry standard in the development of products for the mainstream market. The competitive gamers are the most demanding consumers of computer accessories and peripherals and it's god that this is finally being acknowledged.

“I was surprised when I first experienced BenQs genuine interest and passion for competitive gaming,” says Danny Ramkvist, Chief Marketing Officer of ZOWIE GEAR and continues, “our cooperation proves that more companies are beginning to recognize the demand for higher performance products designed specifically for competitive gaming.”
