The SD Association announced the SD 4.0 specification will enable SDHC/SDXC memory card with speeds of up to 300MB/s while maintaining backwards compatibility:
The first Ultra High Speed (UHS) interface SD memory cards, with transfer speeds of up to 95 MB/s, have barely been announced and already the SD Association is promising even higher performance with its new dual-row pin memory card design which will be part of the SD 4.0 specification.

According to the body defining the Secure Digital standard, the innovative design currently still in the works will be applied to SDHC and SDXC (and microSDHC, microSDXC) cards and enable them to reach speeds of up to 300 MB/s while maintaining backwards compatibility.
