Intel revealed at the IDF in San Francisco that it has shipped 70 million Atom processors since this product segment was introduced in April 2008, and that Atom has found its way into about 1200 different designs and SKUs.
Douglas L. Davis, Intel’s Vice President General Manager, Embedded and Communications Group as just shared some nice numbers on Atom sales.

Since its introduction in April 2008 Intel has sold 70 million Atom CPUs, mostly for netbooks. The good thing about this number is that 40 percent of netbook customers are new to Intel, but of course Davis didn’t tell the world that Atom market has eaten into some of its entry level notebook market. He also noted that Atom processors have managed to find their way into 1200 different designs and SKUs.
