A shot of what is said to be the reference design of AMD's upcoming Radeon HD 6870 is going around the Internet today. This card features the 40nm Barts (XT) GPU and has a dual-slot cooling design. Expected launch date is October 18th.
The Radeon HD 6870 takes up two slots and has a 256-bit memory interface, 1GB of GDDR5 VRAM, the third-generation Unified Video Decoder (UVD), AMD HD3D technology for 3D gaming, CrossFireX support, and the Eyefinity multi-monitor solution. The card also provides no less than five display outputs - two DVI, one HDMI 1.4, two mini DisplayPort 1.2, so it seems capable of running five monitors simultaneously. Pretty sweet right?

Once again AMD sets the bar higher. Can Nvidia keep up? Can Nvidia FINALLY get caught up with Displayport on the 480/485? Time will tell. AMD has built a fantastically well powered and well connected card.
