Intel to open new fab in Oregon?

EE Times reports Intel will announce a new fab today:
The new fab will be located in Oregon, according to The Oregonian. These reports can be seen here and here.

It’s unclear if the fab is a 300-mm plant or an R&D facility. Many believe it’s an R&D facility. Some think it’s a facility to explore both 300- and 450-mm technology. Intel, TSMC and Samsung are pushing the industry for 450-mm fabs, it was noted.
