Oak Trail is Intal's first platform geared specifically towards the tablet market and it should take on ARM based chips, such as Apple's A4, which powers the iPad.
Earlier Intel chips such as the Atom simply weren't capable of delivering acceptable power consumption figures and were thus seldom used in tablets. He stressed that the panel was the most power hungry component in a tablet, not the processor.
