DigiTimes heard notebook makers are eyeing Latin America as it's believed that this market may be a bigger opportunity than that in China. Several laptop makers are planning to set up local operating centers, some plan to cooperate with local channel retailers and some makers are even considering to acquire local brand vendors to quickly get a foothold in the Latin American market.
Vendors have been looking to the growth potential of the notebook and peripheral markets in Latin America, which is thought to be larger than that in China because of fast economic growth, lower popularity of IT products, relatively incomplete IT sales networks, and quite even market shares between brands, according to industry sources.
