DigiTimes heard MSI and Gigabyte plan to outsource their notebook production to Pegatron and Clevo. Last year MSI shipped about 2 million laptops while Gigabyte sold around 250,000 units.
Taiwan-based notebook makers Micro-Star International (MSI) and Gigabyte Technology reportedly will outsource their notebook production to Pegatron Technology and Clevo, respectively, in 2011, according to a Chinese-language Apply Daily report.

Gigabyte currently outsources about 10-20% of its notebooks to Quanta Computer, and will outsource two models to Clevo in 2011, the paper said. MSI reportedly will have Pegatron make only netbooks, which currently accounts for 10% of MSI's total notebook shipments, the paper noted.
