ASUS officially launched the ROG Maximus IV Extreme motherboard:
ASUS today announced the latest Republic of Gamers motherboard, the Maximus IV Extreme, based on the recently released Intel® P67 chipset. Designed with the hardcore enthusiast in mind, the Maximus IV Extreme is not only equipped with the latest PC technologies like USB 3.0 and SATA6 Gb/s, but also ROG exclusive overclocking features and an aesthetically pleasing thermal design optimized to keep the system cool under maximum load. Its revolutionary features are tailored to smash world records and provide the best overclocking experience from beginning to end.

Revolutionary Overclocking Features
The Maximus IV Extreme continues the ASUS ROG tradition of extreme performance and versatility. It ships with a full range of performance enhancing applications, all designed to give users the ability to overclock quickly and efficiently to fulfill their system’s maximum potential. ASUS ROG Connect technology has been upgraded with GPU TweakIt, which removes the need to tinker with BIOS settings for the CPU and GPU, instead allowing users to take charge of their desktop PC’s performance using a notebook PC connected via a dedicated USB port. Should things go awry, settings are easily restored with the USB BIOS Flashback feature, or you can debug the issue with RC Poster or Debug LED on the motherboard. Other applications also include ROG EFI BIOS, which allows users to access BIOS settings with the same ease as their operating system and also shows that all graphics cards and DIMM modules are detected, and also save the BIOS settings on a USB flashdrive by pressing F12 on the keyboard. The ROG iDirect feature supports overclocking from an iPhone and iPad, while RC Bluetooth works with other smartphones.* Every feature on the motherboard is designed to offer unprecedented control over a PC’s CPU and GPU efficiency for even the newest performance-tuning enthusiast.

*Smartphones running Windows Mobile 6.1, Symbian S60 3.1 and Android 2.0 or newer.

Bursting with Features
ASUS engineers crafted the Maximus IV Extreme with a cool thermal design — in both meanings of the word. Layered structures, along with sweeping curves made from the best components, keep motherboard temperatures low to make this an overclocker's dream. The board also supports video acceleration in three-way NVIDIA® SLI™ or AMD CrossFireX™ for maximum frames per second in games, configurable using the new GPU TweakIt feature. Loaded with the latest technologies, including the new Intel® P67 chipset, dual-channel DDR3 2400(O.C.) MHz RAM, dual Intel® Ethernet Gigabit LAN ports, plus ten USB 3.0 and four SATA 6Gb/s ports, the Maximus IV Extreme is ready to tackle anything power users throw at it.
