German tech website HT4U claims AMD will soon release new Radeon HD 6950 and Radeon HD 6970 graphics cards with 1GB GDDR5 memory.

By halving the memory capacity AMD should be able to price its cards more competitively compared to NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce GTX 560. According to the website, Sapphire will be the first to release Radeon HD 6950/6970 cards with 1GB GDDR5 memory but others will surely follow.
