NVIDIA holds 70% of the performance graphics card segment

Mercury Research reports that NVIDIA managed to improve its share in the performance graphics card market to 70 percent in the first quarter of this year. During Q1 2005 a total of 3.71 million DirectX9 performance graphics products were shipped.
In Q4 2004 NVIDIA’s share in the market of what Mercury calls “performance DirectX 9.0” was 67%, whereas a quarter before it was 64%. ATI Technologies’ market share in the “DirectX 9.0 value” market segment was slightly higher compared to NVIDIA’s – 51% versus 49% in Q1 2005.
It is estimated that about 60.2 million PC graphics devices were shipped during Q1 2005. Intel still has the largest share of the market with 43.1 percent. ATI has the second place with 26.1 percent and NVIDIA is third with 17.9 percent market share. Read more about the graphics market at X-bit Labs
