Anonymous sources told DigiTimes that shipments of 3D laptops are expected to more than double this year but it will remain a quite small part of the market. Last year 3D laptops accounted for less than 1 percent of global sales and this year they're expected to climb to 2 percent.
The global shipment volume of 3D notebooks, active-shutter and polarized glasses models together, as a percentage of total shipments will increase from below 1% in 2010 to 2% in 2011, according to industry sources based on international vendors' 2011 product roadmaps. This is mainly due to increased demand for playing 3D games as well as software for playing 3D movies becoming mature, the sources pointed out.
