The Tech Report spotted that Amazon started selling a new Sony 11.6-inch Y Series laptop with AMD's E-350 Fusion processor. The system can be pre-ordered for $549.99, it features a 1366 x 768 pixel screen, 2GB DDR3, 320GB HDD, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI and Windows 7 Home Premium. Battery life is six hours but you can extended it to 13 hours with a separately sold extended battery.
This little laptop weighs 3.23 lbs and has a silver finish. As far as I can tell, it's also quite the looker. Sony has stuck with the sleek, relatively minimalistic design characteristic of its Vaio series—although, as you can see in the gallery below, the Y Series' touchpad looks a tad small. Perhaps I've been spoiled by MacBook touchpads, but I generally like something a little larger.
