Acer sees laptop shipments stabilize in Q1 2011

Acer IT product business president Jim Wong told DigiTimes that his company has seen shipments of notebooks move forward steadily in Q1 2011 after an unexpected decline in the last quarter. Additionally, Wong stated that the impact of Intel's Sandy Bridge woes will be limited, probably falling in a range of just 1-2 percent.
Acer has seen its shipments move forward steadily in the first quarter of 2011 after an unexpected decline in the previous quarter, and expects notebook shipments as well as consolidated revenues to grow 3% sequentially in the quarter, according to Jim Wong, president of IT product business group at Acer.

Judging from order visibility, shipments of notebooks and netbooks will continue to advance in the second quarter and shipments of tablets will begin to generate revenues starting March-April, Wong added.
