Hitachi reveals 4.5-inch IPS screen with 1280 x 720 resolution

Hitachi announced a new 4.5" IPS LCD display that will enable smartphone makers to make devices with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels! The screen offers a pixel density of 329dpi and promises 1,100:1 contrast ratio and 500 nits of brighness coming from a LED backlight.

Mass production of this new screen is slated for October 2011.
