Acer Iconia Smart phone uses 21:9 screen

Acer shows off the Iconia Smart, a new Android 2.3 smartphone with a 1GHz Snapdragon SoC. One of the special things about this phone is its 4.8" screen, it offers an edge-lit backlight and is equipped with a 21:9 aspect ratio 1024 x 480 pixel resolution.

Other features include 512MB RAM, 8GB flash memory, 8MP digicam, 2MP webcam for videocalling, Dolby Mobile sound, HDMI, Bluetooth 2.1 and 802.11b/g/n WiFi.

The device will start shipping in the UK on May 1st, other availability dates and pricing remain unknown.
