Samsung confirmed its ultra-thin 9 Series will soon be available in retail stores. South Koreans will get these sexy systems in the next few days, while other markets will have to wait until March.
The 9 Series is designed to go head to head with Apple's MacBook Air and design-wise it seems like a real stunner. The system features an aluminium alloy enclosure with a 0.64" (1.63cm) thin profile and will be available in two versions; a 11.6" model based on Intel's Calpella platform and a 13.3" edition with the new Huron River platform.
The 11.6" version starts at $1,149 and offers Intel's Core i3-380UM (1.33GHz), integrated graphics, 2GB DDR3 and a 64GB HDD, while the 13.3" model will cost you $1,699 for a system with the Core i5-2537M (1.4GHz), intergated graphics, 4GB DDR3 and a 128GB SSD. Both systems offer Windows 7 Home Premium, 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0, but an extra $100 will buy you an upgrade to Windows 7 Home Professional and WiMAX.
Battery life is said to be 6.5 hours.
