PLX Technology has introduced a new USB 3.0 controller for peripheral devices like printers, wireless routers, wireless displays and other devices.
PLX Technology is rolling out a USB 3.0 controller for peripheral devices, expecting a lively market for the interconnect in 2012. The company also is continuing experiments with PCI Express over optical links as a preferred approach to Intel's new Thunderbolt interconnect which it sees serving niche markets.

The PLX USB3382 supports a USB 3.0 device controller and two PCIe Gen2 x1 ports. It targets a range of applications including medium- and high-end printers, fast wireless routers, wireless displays and a range of mobile devices.
