A market research by IDC shows that the PDA market has dropped with 30 percent in the first quarter of the year to 1.9 million units. This is a 12 percent drop compared to the same period last year.
A recent report by Gartner indicated a strong growth in the PDA market, but they considered the RIM BlackBerry as a PDA while IDC and other research firms state the BlackBerry is not a PDA.
Both are agreed though that mobile is where the growth is. IDC says the sector enjoyed its third consecutive quarter of year-over-year growth in excess of 100 per cent. Q1 05 saw a 134.6 per cent growth totalling a massive 8.4mn units.
