DigiTimes reports mass shipments of notebooks with Google's Chrome OS platform are expected to start in the second half of the year:
First-tier notebook vendors including Acer, Asustek Computer, Sony and Samsung Electronics are all set to launch Chrome OS-based notebooks featuring Intel or Nvidia processors, 10- to 12-inch screens and Chrome OS or dual-OS support, with mass shipments to start in the second half of 2011. Machines may be showcased at Computex Taipei 2011, according to sources from notebook makers.

Although Google previously said that Acer and Samsung will launch Chrome OS notebooks in the first half of 2011, mass shipments are unlikely to start until the second half; meanwhile, Asustek and Sony have both started projects for Chrome OS notebooks with Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Dell currently still making evaluations.
