At the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas this week, researchers from iSec Partners showed how they could remotely unlock a Subaru Outback and start the engine using only their phone. Don Bailey and Matthew Solnik exploited two remote control products which allow consumers to lock and unlock their doors. By setting up their own GSM network they were able to capture the passwords used between the server and the car, this is also known as a man-in-the-middle attack.
