Nintendo redesigns Wii and cuts GameCube compatibility

Nintendo is planning to ship a redesigned Wii console before Christmas. This new Wii will be part of a value bundle with Wii Party and Wii Sports, it's slimmer than the traditional Wii but is designed to sit horizontally rather than vertically and it no longer supports GameCube games nor controllers.

Pricing is unknown but it seems mainly an attempt to boost sales before the Wii U console hits the market next year.
