DigiTimes heard rumors that MSI may be planning to shrink down or even quit its notebook business. MSI however denies the rumors and claims the company is only making some adjustments to the structure of its notebook branding and OEM business and is not shrinking or giving up the business.
In the future, for the branding business, MSI will focus on launching products for mid-range to high-end gaming markets, while it will produce some products in-house and outsource some to outside OEMs to save cost.

With several first-tier notebook brand vendors having been through significant changes, there are some rumors circulating in the IT market claiming that MSI is significantly shrinking down its notebook business size and may even quit the industry in the future with some rumors even noting there are already some MSI employees leaving the company.
