DigiTimes reports the notebook market is hit pretty hard by reduced demand and the HDD supply shortage:
The notebook ODM industry is expected to see a 10-15% sequential shipment drop in the first quarter of 2012, a stronger decline than the same quarter in previous years, according to sources from the notebook industry.

As for shipments in the fourth quarter, the sources expect a sequential decline of 5%, a significant drop compared to 15% growth in the third quarter of previous years.

The sources believe the industry will have a chance to recover in the second quarter of 2012, when hard drive supply should return normal and Intel launches its next-generation Ivy Bridge processor.
