Windows 8 beta downloaded over 1 million times

Microsoft's Windows 8 development team shared on Twitter that downloads of the Windows 8 Consumer Preview have hit the 1 million mark within the first 24 hours of release!
This bodes well for the pre-release of Microsoft's next OS, or at least shows that people are interested in the dramatic changes the system will bring to the table.

Many of the features are still rough around the edges, and the Consumer Preview made available Wednesday was not an official stable release, but anyone who wants to take it for a spin can download it for free from Microsoft's website.
