eBook reader sales collapse

DigiTimes Research reports global shipments of eBook readers are anticipated to reach just two million units this quarter, down from nine million shipped in Q4 2011. The research firm notes Amazon's Kindle Fire tablet has cannibalized the Kindle eBook reader market, and that Amazon has reduced its orders for eBook readers.

DigiTimes Research says global sales of eBook readers hit 22.82 million units last year, up 107 percent year-over-year. Oddly enough, the company still expects annual shipments will grow to 60 million units by 2015.
