Motherboard prices to be increased by 3-5 percent?

DigiTimes reports word is out on the streets that motherboard makers are considering to hike product prices by 3 to 5 percent this month. The prise increase reflects higher labor costs in China and persistent high copper prices.
Taiwan-based motherboard makers are considering hiking their product prices by 3-5% in March, with industry sources indicating that Asustek Computer is likely to lead fellow companies to implement planned hikes, according to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report.

In response, Asustek said that it has not yet finalized plans for possible hikes, since retail channels have been very sensitive to price movement and that the price hikes may result in a loss of market share to rivals, according to the paper.
