Acer corporate president Jim Wong claims his company is on track to regain some of its lost marketshare. The firm intends to return to a top 3 ranking in the global notebook market this year.
Europe will remain Acer's key market for 2012, said Wong, adding that the company will still benefit from its channel resources locally. Wong previously indicated Acer is looking to restore its market share in Europe to 25-28% by the end of 2012 from the current 22%.
Acer has significantly lowered its inventory level, enabling it to pursue more flexible and effective product pricing and marketing strategies, according to industry sources. The sources also claimed that Acer has managed to regain some of its lost share in the first quarter.
