Microsoft: No new Xbox at E3

Microsoft Studios group PR manager Ryan James announced there will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon, thereby dispelling rumors regarding a launch of the Xbox 720 at the E3 show.
"While we appreciate all the interest in our long-range plans for the future, we can confirm that there will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon. For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360 - and it’s the best year ever for Xbox 360. The console is coming off its biggest year ever - a year in which Xbox outsold all other consoles worldwide," said Ryan James, group PR manager for Microsoft Studios, reports GameInformer web-site.

Microsoft has reasons not to show off any next-generation Xbox (code-named Loop or Durango) this year as it needs to emphasize the currently available hardware, software and services and provide prospect of what can be done with the Xbox as a platform that will eventually include PCs and smartphones. Another strong reason not to demonstrate the Xbox Next may be the lack of finalized specifications or even final concept itself.
