Eurocom teases the Panther 5.0, a new 17.3" Core i7 based workstation laptop that supports four NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M, 670M or GTX 660M, NVIDIA Quadro 5010M, 4000M, 3000M graphics cards or four AMD Radeon HD 7000 series cards. Interestingly, the firm claims this laptop will feature an IPS screen with a 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K) resolution! graphics cards.
Eurocom (www.eurocom.com), a world renowned performance notebook developer, has recently developed a method of integrating four GPUs inside a notebook computer. Eurocom will be utilizing this technology in their Panther line of high performance Mobile Supercomputers. Eurocom has developed this technology to support four MXM 3.0b or MXM 4.0a graphics processors in SLI-D and CrossFireX-D, thus ensuring Eurocom notebooks will support the next generation of 130 Watt high performance notebook GPUs coming out in the near future.

As an industry first, the newly announced Panther 5.0 will support the following industry-leading innovation: Quad-CrossFire and Quad-SLI graphics. In a 4 VGA card configuration known as DUAL-CrossfireX (CF-D) for AMD or DUAL-SLI (SLI-D) for NVIDIA, the newest VGA cards from the AMD Radeon HD 7000M and VIDIA GeForce GTX 600M families will truly shine for the first time in a mobile solution. Also seen for the first time in a mobile station will be up to four NVIDIA Quadro card support.

“This solution is optimized for our clients who are utilizing our systems for mobile CUDA processing, where they benefit from having as many CUDA cores as possible. Right now there is nothing even close on the market” said Mark Bialic, Eurocom President.

“The Quadro 5010m four card solution yields a CUDA mobile super computer. This allows engineers, software developers, scientists and researchers to leverage the parallel computing platform and programming model, reaping massive benefits in pure raw computing power like never seen before. 4 x 384 CUDA cores for a total of 1536 CUDA Cores, 4 x 4 GB GDDR5 RAM totaling 16 GB GDDR5 RAM, as well as 3.86 Teraflops x 4 yielding up to 15.44 Teraflops” said David Aris, Eurocom Technical Operations Manager.

Eurocom will also be supporting the newest Intel X79 chipset able to support a single Intel Core i7 Processor with 8 cores and 20 MB of L3 cache for unsurpassed CPU processing for intensive operations and data processing in the Panther 5.0.

“With this amount of horsepower in a Eurocom mobile form factor, anything is possible, the sky is the limit” said Mark Bialic.

In addition to the Quad GPU support and 8 core CPU, the Panther 5.0 supports up to 96GB of DDR3 memory via six physical sockets for unforeseen virtualization capabilities.

Past EUROCOM Panther models have supported up to six storage drives, the Panther 5.0 takes it one step further with support for two additional drives and a SAS interface. For added speed or redundancy the Panther 5.0 also supports RAID 0/1/5/10/30. With a total of six storage drive capacity, the Panther 5.0 can support up to 6 TB of storage and Hybrid, Solid and Hard Drives.

“The performance of this beast and the technology within it is unbelievable really, I credit out research staff and engineers for getting this done” said Mark Bialic.

“In order to accomplish the seemingly impossible, we had to re-write the base design from the ground up and after years of work we finally succeeded to deliver a product we are truly proud of. The Panther 5.0 integrates high-bandwidth components which would satisfy the most demanding applications in today’s data-driven world” explains David Aris.

This high i/o and low latency driven design is comprised of the following core components:

  • Core Logic: Intel X79 Express Chipset
  • Processor: Intel Core i7 (LGA2011) with 8-cores/16-treads and 20 MB of L3 cache
