BIOS makers competing for Windows Phone 8 platform

DigiTimes reports BIOS designers are aggressively competing for the smartphone BIOS market as Microsoft's new Windows Phone 8 platform will also support UEFI to target the enterprise market.
In addition to BIOS solutions for Windows 8, Insyde Software, Phoenix Technologies and American Megatrends are also aggressively competing for the smartphone BIOS market as Microsoft plans to have its recently announced Windows Phone 8 platform also support unified extensible firmware interface (UEFI) to target the enterprise market.

With Insyde's InsydeH2O BIOS system for PCs already certified for Windows 8, while its competitors are all aggressively striving for Microsoft's support, the competition for Windows Phone 8 BIOS is expected to start in the fourth quarter, and may begin to contribute profits for the BIOS players after mid-2013.
